2019 Hand Protection Trends and how they will shape the next decade of Safety and Protection.

The rise of Nitrile

The beginning of the twenty-tens saw the emergence of the premium glove material Nitrile.

Nitrile burst onto the scene as a solution for all the ongoing problems that latex was causing in the industry. However, at the start of the decade Nitrile had quite a problem itself. First it was very expensive to make. As a new leap forward in material technology, it was quite expensive to process and only a few manufacturers knew how to create it, and because the product wasn’t well marketed or known about, Nitrile couldn’t achieve the economies of scale that Latex had. Therefore, the price was significantly higher then latex and adoption of nitrile was slow.

By the middle of the decade nitriles popularity had increased, and as people all around the world began trying nitrile gloves, they became hooked due to nitriles superior qualities.  Today Nitrile is used in about 40% of all workplaces that require gloves. As more people learn about the benefits of Nitrile in the new decade, we expect demand for high quality nitrile gloves to significantly increase.

The fall of Latex

Research has proven that ongoing exposure to Latex will cause you to eventually become allergic to latex.  If you touch latex frequently you have a high chance of experiencing hand irritation and eventually developing a life threatening allergy. If your profession demands that you were gloves everyday, then you will experience hand irritation and dermatitis if you choose to wear latex gloves. Dermatitis on your hands can cause painful cracked hands, bumps, redness, and itchiness.
