Are Nitrile Gloves Food Safe?

Nitrile is the safest material for food contact yet some gloves are certified for food safety and some are not. Look for mentions of FDA or HACCP, that would mean that the gloves are third party certified to be food safe.

Nitrile is considered the material of choice for handling foods in a safe, contaminate-free and additive-free manner.FDA and HACCP certified nitrile is used for its cleanliness and strength in food processing machinery, similarly it is the safest and strongest material for food handling gloves. Strength means a low chance of breakage and contamination. The colour of the glove also comes into consideration for food safety.

FDA and HACCP certified

What is FDA? The Food and Drug Administration. A predominate and well known federal agency in the US.

What is HACCP? A NASA space programme developed system designed to identify and minimise points of failure, today HACCP is also used as an international food safety certification for a variety of successful products.

Safety in Nitrile

Approved nitrile gloves also safety stop any harmful microorganisms or bacterium that can come from using the incorrect gloves or employees not following food processing safety procedures correctly – such as not using FDA or HACCP approved food nitrile gloves or not washing hands at high intervals.Disposable gloves are made from synthetic rubbers that can become a contaminate or addictive in food. These rubbers need food certifications like FDA  or HACCP for this reason. Nitrile is the safest type of food processing glove, but needs to be checked for third party food safety certifications.

Safety in Nitrile’s Strength

Nitrile gloves have a very good puncture resistance, depending on the application or industry a nitrile glove is designed for the manufacture will change curtain specifications of the glove to be thick, stronger, longer.
